Flood & raid filter

Raid spam is not one message — it is a burst. ModShield watches channel spread, message rate, and identical content together, then removes the whole burst instead of fighting message-by-message.

  • Sliding window per user
  • Burst / spread / duplicate signals
  • Bulk cleanup when possible
  • Trip memory across restarts

Why teams turn it on

One window, three signals

Trip on how wide the spam spreads, how fast it lands, or whether the same content is pasted everywhere — classic floods and coordinated paste raids in one policy.

Bulk cleanup

Where the platform allows it, the burst is cleared in one bulk delete instead of a hundred round-trips that lose the race to the next paste.

Memory across restarts

Optional trip memory means a bot restart does not forgive an active raider mid-attack.

Scoped to what hurts

Watch all messages, attachments, or links only — so image dumps and link storms can be treated differently from normal chat.

How it works

  1. 1. Watch the window

Each user is scored inside a sliding time window: message count, how many channels they hit, and optional identical-content repeats.

  2. 2. Trip the policy

When a threshold trips, ModShield treats the recent burst as one incident — not eight separate “oops” events.

  3. 3. Clean and escalate

Bulk delete where possible, then apply your shared strike / jail / timeout policy so flood handling matches the rest of moderation.

Real situations

Emoji / sticker storms

A user fills five channels in ten seconds. Spread + rate trip together even if no single message looks “bad”.

Copy-paste raid

Identical scam text lands across channels. Identical-content mode collapses the pattern into one cleanup.

Attachment dump

Scope to attachments so image floods are caught without punishing normal conversation pace.

FAQ

Will fast typers get punished?

Thresholds are yours. Set them for raid scale, exempt staff/bots, and tune until normal chat stays quiet.

Does it replace raid join protection?

No. Flood filter is message-side. Pair it with Raid protection for join waves at the door.
